Wife of Baldr and mother of Forseti. She dies
of heartache after Baldr's death and is burned with him on his funeral boat -- along with his chopped up horse and an unfortunate dwarf whom Thor kicked in at the last minute.
It is possible that in an ancient religion Nanna was once the Great Mother whose consort was Baldr. When he was overcome by his brother Hodr, she wept and the world went into mourning, thus winter.
