Jotenheim Juggernaught Event
Hosted by Sir Fafnir, October 2-3, 1999
The event began on Saturday morning at Blydenburg County Park in Smithtown. After setting up camp, (vivats to Lady Skuld for her forethought in bringing extra tents and other supplies!) those in attendance made their way to a large fied in which the day's list events took place.
Uberheim's new favorite tourney, Thor's Wheel of Doom was again employed with great success. Although many fought bravely, the Victor of this was FASOLT who performed quite exquisitely upon the Field.
Next came the Field Battles. There were 4 teams each having three members. Despite valient efforts of all the teams, including the obscenely comedic antics of Team Thor, Team Dankwert won the day.
As the light began to fade, the archery competition began. Contestants strove to make there mark on several different objects. Sir Rudiger with a keen eye and keener shot won the day.
From this point the swarms of hungry mosquitos at Sunset forced the party to beat a hasty retreat to Camp.
The fire was kindled and the pavilion was prepared for the Feast and Court. The tables were laid with candles and a bounteous potluck feast consisting of roast chicken, ham, cheeses, salads, Italian dishes, various breads and honey butter, and other delicacies. The revelers were entertained during their feasting by the erudite Rune poetry of Lord Bragi, and a song sung by the Goddess Saga.
The Court of Their Majesties Sigfried and Hella, King and Queen of Uberheim took place after the feast. Among the important happenings at court:
Warlord Rudiger reminded all of his LARP on the 23rd
Lord Uller took on Roland as his High Priest
Marius was Squired by Sir Thor
Tobias and Skully were recognized as New Uberites
Just after court, Roland proposed to Jesserelle and was accepted! Five Vivats to the happy couple!!
Later, revelers made their way to the fire or sat and talked in the pavillion. The atmosphere was jovial and relaxed, until a pair of Mundane Law Officers appeared and took exception to the presence of our Grails. Eventually they left, taking our grails with them and leaving us Summonses in return. The merriment carried on. The occurrence did inspire a quick Advisors meeting in which it was determined that no Alcohol would be permitted at events in public areas in the future.
All in all, a fine event indeed!
